The NEC has proudly presented the longest consecutive general tropical fish convention in the country for over 30 years. The concept of a convention was the brainchild of Don Johnson, and Penny Faul quickly took this idea and ran with it. She proceeded to Chair the event through the 20th convention in 1995 – 20 years of making sure everything was organized and presented so that everyone would learn, enjoy and leave with memories never to be forgotten. Janine Banks took the reigns in 1996 and continued to produce a quality convention where hobbyists could meet and learn from others who shared their interest.
The dedication of many volunteers and the contributions of each attendee make the NEC conventions shine. The quality of the speakers, the comradery of those that return each year, the manufacturers and local stores that donate goods, the memories of good friends made and the education taken away make the NEC’s a convention that so many return to year after year.
Each past convention had its own flavor, and each left its attendees with much knowledge and a whole host of memories! Scroll through the options available under the History tab and join us on a trip down memory lane!
