Tencatt, Luiz

Bachelor in Biological Sciences by the Universidade Federal Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). He holds a Master's and Doctorate degree by the Postgraduate Program in Ecology of Continental Aquatic Environments (PEA), Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM), Research Center in Limnology, Ichthyology and Aquaculture (Nupélia).

He is currently a Junior Postdoctoral fellow (PDJ / CNPq) at the Ichthyology Laboratory of the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul and Substitute Professor at the Universidade Estadual de Mato Grosso do Sul. He started his studies in  Ichthyology in March, 2007. Since 2011 he devotes his life to the taxonomy of Callichthyidae, especially Corydoradinae. In parallel, the Loricariidae taxonomy was also part of his studies, with a greater emphasis on Hypostomus.

Currently, he described about 20 fish species, distributed in more than 30 scientific articles.
